The training session in Munro focused on the main challenge facing farmers: sustainably controlling weeds that attack crops.
Transforming seed into food is no easy task. Among the many challenges a farmer faces from planting to harvesting one stands out: integrated weed management. This was why a training session was conducted at Munro on how the agricultural solutions Bayer offers should involve products, services and knowledge to support customers in combating this problem.

Thirty Bayer employees from Sales, Marketing and Product Development who have direct contact with customers – and therefore know their needs well – were invited to attend.

Innovation was the key word of the entire training agenda. As Ignacio Gorleri, Corn and Cereal Crop Manager for Latam 2, reports, the training session was staged with the weed team of CREA (Consorcios Regionales de Experimentación Agrícola), an Argentinean farmers’ association. "Year after year, farmers are investing more and more resources, but they are increasingly constrained by the yield potential of their crops," Ignacio Gorleri explains. For him the sum of forces inside and outside of Bayer is capable of enhancing agricultural productivity.

Even in a country as vast and diverse as Argentina, efficiently and sustainably controlling weeds is a problem common to all farmers. During the training session the current reality and main climate trends, the evolution of production systems, the importance of crops, services, herbicides and their relationship with the environment, as well as digital agriculture were discussed.

The 30 attendees are now serving as ambassadors for Integrated Weed Management, a topic of prime importance to Bayer’s Crop Science division worldwide. The objective of their ambassadorship is to share the knowledge they have acquired in the various team meetings they attend.
