Training in Munro, Argentina, focused on the field´s main challenge: to control the weeds that attack the crops in a sustainable way
Transforming a seed into food is not an easy task. Among the various challenges that a farmer faces from sowing to harvest, one stands out: reach a sustainable production, fighting weeds and protecting environmental and people. To response well to this challenge, Bayer offers different tools, such as our Integrated Weed Management program. In Argentina, headquarter for Crop Science in Latin America 2, we promoted a training recently in due to spread this weapons in due to reach sustainability.

Thirty employees from Sales, Marketing and Product Development, where summoned to this training in April 18th/19th, who are those who have direct contact with the customer - and consequently know their needs.

Innovation was the key word in the entire training agenda. Ignacio Gorleri, Crop Manager of Corn and Cereals for Latam 2, comments that this was sought after with the weed team of CREA (Regional Consortiums of Agricultural Experimentation), an Argentinian association of farmers. "Farmers, year after year invest more efforts, and yet, that limits more and more their potential Return of Investments of their crops", completes Gorleri. For him, that sum of forces inside and outside Bayer favors the productivity of the field and allows aligned messages in the market.

Even in a country as extensive and diverse as Argentina, efficient and sustainable control of weeds is a problem common to all farmers. In training, the current reality and main climate trends, the evolution of production systems, the importance of servicing crops, herbicides and their relationship with the environment, as well as digital agriculture were discussed.

The 30 attendees are now ambassadors for Integrated Weed Management, a topic of primary importance to Crop Science worldwide. The objective is to share the knowledge acquired in the different team meetings that they have scheduled before the next season starts.
